A few months back I came across “Operation Chimera: Defensive Operation” by SecurityBlue.Team and as an aspiring blue teamer I decided to purchase it. Early this month as I started the course, I was encouraged to join the Discord channel, which I did, of course! From there I found out about the VIP membership, the new course syllabus, and the HilltopCTF that was going to begin in a few days’ time.

If you’re familiar with my first blog “Capture What Flag?” you know that I have a thing for CTFs. Nevertheless, just as with everything else that has to do with infosec, CTFs are quite new to me, I’m getting a kick out of them. That said, as soon as I read about the upcoming CTF I had no doubt that I was participating, it was no brainier.

Finding time between a full-time job, and full-time grad school? Piece of cake! I was able to start late night of the first day, to my relief, the first challenges were conceptual/knowledge-based questions and I got them right off the bat — did anybody say confidence boots? short thereafter the ferocious DuckDuckGo-ing began!
